Book Review: My First Noel by Danelle Harmon

Review:

Yet again, I am guilty of jumping into the middle of a series… but I was in the mood for a sweet and historical Christmas story and this novella delivered. 

After facing another rejection, Lady Katharine Farnsley encounters a strange man named Noel. Ready to drop her ‘cold’ exterior and try her hand at charity, she takes Noel in. After having a profound dream about this stranger, she begins to question his identity. 

Not being familiar with the characters and dynamics, it’s difficult for me to discuss the ins and outs, but despite my unfamiliarity, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. The premise was cute and I loved the writing. It was the perfect book to kick off my December reading!

What I liked:

• I enjoyed the Christian themes.
• Beautiful writing.
• Good character growth and introspection.

What I didn’t like:

• Being unfamiliar with the characters and universe definitely left me feeling out of the loop.

Afterthoughts:

I decided to break my usual posting schedule so that some of my Christmas book reviews will be posted before Christmas. I don’t think all of them will be posted in December, given that my reading has been much slower over the past several weeks, but I will do my best!
