How I rate:
★ – I hated it, but finished it either out of understanding, morbid curiosity, or because I have a lot of opinions I want to share.
★★ – This wasn’t for me. I may see value and can appreciate that there is an audience for this book outside or myself, or there was something positive that managed to stand out.
★★★ – I liked it. It was good. Maybe it wasn’t completely for me, maybe I wasn’t in the right headspace. A positive rating that I will balance with any critiques or explain why I haven’t rated higher.
★★★★ – I really enjoyed it! This is my average rating for the books I enjoy. Many of my all-time favorite books have 4-star ratings. There might have been something that didn’t sit right with me, or maybe there was a character that I really didn’t vibe with, etc. 4-star books are often my most thought out reviews.
★★★★★ – I LOVED THIS BOOK. Or I can appreciate just how much of the author’s heart and soul went into writing the book. Sometimes I’m blind to any flaws because it was the right place at the right time. Sometimes the book is seriously that good.
