Review:

I’ve had this on my TBR since its release. I enjoyed Robert Matzen’s first book about Audrey Hepburn, and I was excited to see a sequel of sorts. Despite my excitement, it’s taken me a few years to finally pick it up. 

While Dutch Girl predominantly focused on Audrey Hepburn’s life during World War II and her acting career, Warrior focuses on her work with UNICEF. Her story is an inspiring one filled with selflessness and humility. 

Admittedly, I wasn’t as absorbed in this as I was with Dutch Girl. I would have preferred all of this content just be in the one book because I don’t feel Warrior added too much, making the writing feel dragged out to fill the pages. That’s no critique of Audrey Hepburn’s story, though. Both books are very much worth reading.

What I liked:

• Delves a little bit deeper into Audrey Hepburn’s work with UNICEF.

What I didn’t like:

• It had a political edge to it, which to some extent is to be expected, but I didn’t find the tone matched Audrey Hepburn.
• This content could have been in the first book.

Afterthoughts:

Although I was somewhat let down, I’m so glad to have finally read this.
