Review:
I’ve watched a lot of Kaelynn Partlow’s YouTube Shorts and love the way she approaches teaching people about the autism spectrum. I was so excited when I saw that she published a book going deeper into the topics she discusses on her channel.
Though this is a fast and relatively short read, it’s packed with accessible language and analogies about some of the things autistic people experience. With this, she provides tools for both caregivers as well as bullet points for any autistic readers looking for guidance.
I haven’t read much on this topic, so this was a perfect introduction to the subject. I feel like Kaelynn brings a unique perspective, being autistic as well as being an autism therapist. She is able to illustrate things from a personal and clinical point of view.
I recommend this to anyone looking to learn more about ASD, especially as an introduction that isn’t weighed down by a bunch of clinical terminology.
Likes & Dislikes:
What I liked:
- Accessible language and approach to teaching about autism.
- Helpful tips for parents and individuals.
- Easy to read.
What I didn’t like:
- The ebook formatting wasn’t great and a lot of my highlights got messed up across devices. Not a massive issue, but some trouble with spacing and a few images were set in odd places.
Afterthoughts:
I think a companion workbook would be fantastic for this book!
