Review:

Complicated family dynamics, secrets, murder, twists, mental health… Intriguing stuff here!

Hanna’s life goes lopsided in the wake of a murder. Needing to uncover long-kept secrets and keep her family safe, she is determined to put an end to the havoc.

This book was slow to get into but definitely picked up as it went on. I did struggle to follow along through most of it though, having trouble remembering the importance of each character. I enjoyed the inclusion of discussions on mental health, but that’s about all that stuck with me. That, and its solid foundation.

A huge thanks to Harper360 for sending me a free ARC copy of the book!

Likes & Dislikes:

What I liked:

  • Themes of mental health.
  • An interesting premise.

What I didn’t like:

  • Unmemorable characters.
  • The writing itself could be stronger for the genre.

Afterthoughts:

I feel bad that this is such a weak review, but it’s one of the books that’s difficult to discuss without dropping a spoiler. Looking at other reviews, it seems like they are all fairly short and speaking around things as well.

Another note: I normally try to read every ARC I receive before the publication date (unless asked otherwise), however, I believe my package was delayed during shipping because it arrived much later than the date indicated on the packing slip and after the date of October 10th.
